There were many good things about the writing in this book, but I brought it down to do some odd things in it that may not affect how it reads for many people. The illusionist referred to is Houdini, who has died before this book begins, and the apprentice is Wren Lockhart who is one a popular illusionist in vaudeville. She witnesses a fake resurrection of a dead man where the man brought back dies on the platform. She is then asked to help investigate this by an FBI agent due to her inside know

It's a great read, and would have been a 5 stars if it didn't fall on the romance so heavily half way through...
