Anyone familiar with my reading knows that I love travel books and especially slow travel. Having become somewhat of a connoisseur of this genre, I am familiar with Colin Thubron and was quite happy with the other two which I read, To a Mountain in Tibet and Shadow of the Silk Road, so when I heard that he had written a book about a river I was unfamiliar with, the Amur, I definitely wanted to read it.
