I wish I could say that I liked this book because there were some parts that I did like. the concept of the story was very good but the construct ruined it for me.
Although I don't usually mind the "two stories in one" approach, the first 200 pages or so were very slow and the flipping back and forth in order to set the stage for both stories made this very slow going. Sepulchre - Kate Mosse
I really liked this book. It was fairly well done, though certainly flawed, with a lot of various layers. There are essentially two novels in one happening, with one story taking place in 1891 and another in 2007. Eventually, they are woven together. That's not a spoiler by the way.
There were times I found it slow going, but other times I was enthralled. What Mosse did well was create this family history, rich with detail and interesting characters.

I enjoyed Labyrinth much more than this confusing tome. I could never quite get why everyone was so keen on finding these mythical tarot cards (monetary value, mystical powers??) There were some "say, what?" moments like when first they hear the thunder-clap THEN see the lightning flash and later, when there is a duel, the challenger specifies the weapon. I always thought the one challenged got that choice. Some good description of Midi France and Carcassonne area. I stuck it out to the end but

I wasn't as good as the first one, but I enjoyed the story and the chilling atmospere.
