I liked it, but it was suggested to me I shouldn't give four stars to every single book I enjoy, so here it goes for Heinlein. I really had no issues with "The Door Into Summer", and Heinlein is still one of my favorite SF masters after this.

Loved this book. There's a dual timeline 1970 and 2000. Both are in the far future for the actual author, the book was first published in 1957.
Dan Davis is an engineer living in 1970. He successfully designed and commercialized a self-vacuuming device that turned into a "must have" in every home. The description sounds exactly like a roomba - and while that wasn't available in 1970, the author was pretty accurate in where the technology was heading.

Firstly, I love Heinlein. I know he can be viewed as problematic, but I grew up reading him in the late 70's and 80's and I will never stop enjoying him.
This story is just fun. The main character and Pete are people I admire. Of course it's corny and a bit predictable in a twisty way, but it is good fun, explores interesting concepts, and is comforting. Don't pass it up if you like older SF, or if you never read the classics of SF. It's one of Heinlein's less talked-about novels, but it's GOOD. ...more
