I absolutely loved this gem!!! The fictional character of Gloria Downing, who narrates the life and career of Estee Lauder, was such a fabulous and complex and wonderful character. The two of them were complex and vulnerable, as were all the other friends and loves that populated the story. I thought it was engaging and well done, and so easy to get wrapped up in. I can always count on Renee Rosen to deliver historical fiction novels with famous icons as their subjects.
This book was no different and Rosen delivered for me again.
Estee Lauder.. I was a kid the first time I saw her name as a brand of makeup my mother used.
That was all I knew about her until I read this book. Wow, I had no idea about her life.

Fifth Avenue Glamour Girl is a fictionalized account of the friendship between Estee Lauder and Gloria Downing, and Estee's struggles to get her creams on the shelves of big name department stores.
