First, I love Elizabeth Berg and will continue to read everything she writes, but this one left me cold. I do not want to make light of the drama of any kind of child abuse, but as Laura's husband, Pete said, (paraphrasing) every family has something. How Laura reacts years after the abuse is over-the-top and a bit dramatic. What does she teach her children by eliminating family from their lives based on something that happened years ago and even to someone else? Let's hope this character never
