I’ve lost count, long ago, how many times I’ve read this beautiful book- this sweet series. In the beginning, it helped me through my grief when I lost my mother. Through the years it’s been happiness, comfort, and all the in betweens. Each time finding something new while my heart glows.

This is the first book in a gentle series about a minister and his flock in the small southern town of Mitford. Characters include a mongrel dog, irrascible church secretary, orphaned boy, beautiful neighbor, elderly couple, etc. Lovely to read and very enjoyable.

I will continue reading this series.

P.S. Within a year I had read the first four books:
At Home in Mitford
A Light in the Window
These High, Green Hills
Out to Canaan

John McDonough is a fabulous narrator and, in this series, he is the perfect Father Tim.
