Nell Stevens spent 3 months on her own in a house on Bleaker Island, the Falklands, in order to write a novel. There is only 1 neighbour who, of course, is not anywhere that near that she could just pop in anytime she'd like. This is her memoir of her time spent there interspersed with stories she wrote (was purported to her her novel) and past stories as she retraced her steps to her dreams of becoming a writer and how she ended up on her lonesome on this bleak island.

Would she choose some place like London or Paris, homes to many a well-known writer? No, instead, she chooses Bleaker Island in the Falklands.
