I’ll preface this by pointing out that I’m a light science-fiction reader. I’ve read some Alastair Reynolds, enjoy sci-fi shows such as Babylon 5, Star Trek and Star Wars and read classics such as War of the Worlds. You can therefore take my review with that background in mind.

In this ambitious science fiction novella, Colin Duffy imagines a world of the future, where alien contact has become a long forgotten reality, and little remains to remind anyone of the prior way of life before the visitors arrived. Unfortunately, conflict ensued upon their arrival resulting in a catastrophe of global proportions for humans and aliens alike, ultimately ushering in a new dark age for mankind.
