Neferata exchanges ideas with a ruler who has spent his life separating his kingdom from her own. They bring up point and counter-point. Having read other works that include Neferata, I had this uneasy feeling throughout the entire read that something terrible would happen without much effort on her part. I would read this after reading Mortarch of Blood to get the most enjoyment out of this story, not for niche plot-points, but for the tone and atmosphere it would contribute to the scenes in th
