What started off as a stock-standard Stormcast story surprisingly ended up with a much more insightful perspective. Good and evil aren't always as black and white as you might expect, and this story scratches the surface of what that means. I recommend it. ...more

William King’s long awaited return to Black Library and first ever AoS tale is a very satisfying “return to roots” story that reads like classic pulp. Shorn of its AoS trappings, you’d have a classic heroic fantasy story of a captured warrior matching wits with an evil sorcerer and yet all is not as it seems.
And the deeper implications presents some serious lore changes for the Stormcast Eternals perhaps?. Enjoyed it, wish it had been longer.
