Gilbert Markham is a cheerful and carefree young man who becomes fascinated by the mysterious Helen Graham, who has moved into the gloomy Wildfell Hall with her young son and female servant. This book left a deep impression on me, especially some time after I was done reading it.
I loved the description of the rough moors, the small countryside community, long walks, visits and afternoon tea. Three very different characters are brought together: the passionate, foolish Gilbert, the virtuous and dutiful Helen and the psychopath Arthur.
