A very quick read. I loved this book even though it was certainly a very tragic story. The majority of the book is a flashback as told by an unnamed visitor to the area. The narrator sees Ethan Frome for the first time and is taken by his gaunt, quiet character. Eventually he employs Ethan to drive him back and forth to his job. The story of Mr. Frome, his wife and his wife's cousin is discovered small bits at a time from different folks around town. A very sad story--bleak in setting and despar
