This is a bit of an odd book, but also smart, witty, comedic and dramatic. It takes the art of another and creates a story around it. I think that is my favorite part, because it feels like an extremely successful writing prompt assignment. It feel like the rest of us might be able to create a lovely story as well if we only pay attention to all the things that can inspire us. This slight, unusual novel is based on the famous Dutch painting 'De parabel der blinden' (1568) by Renaissance painter Pieter Bruegel the Elder, which is known to illustrate the Biblical parable of 'the blind leading the blind'.
