What Members Thought

I loved this book. However, I hated Lucien so much that every time he did something that hurt his family more or every stupid mistake he made, it just made me scream and want to throw my book out the window because Lucien was a selfish child. I felt so bad for David, but was satisfied in the end. Great book!

I had trouble getting into this book at first, especially keeping track of the characters and their French names. I had to do what I do when I read Tolstoy and change the names in my brain so I can keep everyone separate. I want to go back and see if I did a review of Pere Goriot. Maybe this is just the style of Balzac's writing. Anyway, I am glad that I stuck with it because I think I will end up giving this book 4 stars.
