Not sure if I was less interested because I kind of remembered what was coming or if my opinions are changed. Totally planning on reading book 2 to see if things do get better.

This book felt like an unique take. Ellie Jordan doesn't have magical powers, just science to back her up. So, hunting ghosts can be quite difficult.

I originally got this book as a freebie from Amazon, it might always be free but I am not sure. Anyways, this is EXACTLY what a free book that is first in a series should be. The book was so good, didn't end on a cliffhanger and STILL made me want to read the rest of the series. Hear that all you authors giving the first book in your series away for free? This is what you want to strive for!

Ellie Jordan, Ghost Trapper is the first book and well... you can tell.
Lot's of uneven character development and world building. I struggled to even like Ellie, our FMC, so that had in impact on my overall enjoyment. She was very closed off as a character and for someone working in the paranormal world, had pretty stringent views on things.
The "mystery" was pretty intense with an element of dark magic/human sacrifice. That storyline def brought the grit.
