I freely admit I'm biased about these books, because I've read them for so long and so many times that the characters feel like family / friends to me. But I still enjoy them each and every time, and that is something I can't say about series I've read that haven't run half as long as this one. They may be formulaic, but the formula works for me because the characters sell it time and again.
