Loved listening to this. I think the audio with the multiple narrators was the best way to take in this story. This is a post WWII story told through the perspective of letters.
I knew nothing of the occupation in Guernsey and now want to know so much more. It sounds like a lovely place that maybe one day I can get the chance to visit. I love how a group of people came together because of the occupation and found a love of books, literature and respect for one another. Its crazy how something so

This was such an old-fashioned epistolary novel. I absolutely adored it. The characters and the location were just so charming and touching. The book is about recovering from WW2 and how the love of books help in said recovery. I cried at times and laughed out loud at others. What more can you possibly ask for in a book?

I suppose in a way, th

I dont do HF. I simply don't esp around WW2 and for 2 very good reasons one of which I wont mention coz it's just personally political. And the other major reason is the usually inevitable sad or bittersweet endings which I cannot stand.
So this is my first ever HF, I believe and now I'm dying to read more.

One of those feel good and cry books with lots of wonderful quotes on the bookish life and beauty of being alive in general.
One of the best bibliotherapy examples found in a book!
The simplicity with which characters confront the literary world in spite of harsh realities around them is astounding and humbling. This book just proves that every person can be a part of a book club if he were given a chance and a book to read.
The story behind the book just makes me appreciate the book more and be th
