Oke so, consider yourself warned because I will be ranting in a sec!

I'm going to begin with the fact that this story tells that all the continents are under water except for America (US) because.. why not? I'm like that's not even possible! Even if it is effin fiction it's not possible!! Like did God point his/her(?) finger at all the other continents and just like push them under water? Even if so, that would cause massive earthquakes and volcano outbreaks and tsunami's etc. So like no, just no Oke so, consider yourself warned because I will be ranting in a sec!

I'm going to begin with the fact that this story tells that all the continents are under water except for America (US) because.. why not? I'm like that's not even possible! Second throughout this story you don't get a year or any dates, which is oke. [Yeah, you get the months and talks about the twenty-first century, Yes I read those but I mean YEAR like 2012].
So.. cancer has been cured which is like fireworks and total awesomeness, BUT everyone is dying at a very young age except for the 'first-generations'. Uhm considering that the first-generations gave birth to all this dying people.. isn't it like common sense to test their blood/DNA/bodies? Instead of newborns of the second-generations? Just saying! Besides why are people so set on creating more and more babies if they're going to die within 20-25 years?

Third, where is the government? Where's the army to put the infected folk into quarantine? To create a effin cure? Why are architects like designing new houses and having parties the whole time when in somewhat years no one will even exist?

Fourth, why doesn't Rowan have a phone? Rowan and Rhine have been running and walking on eggshells ever since their parents died. Isn't it the obvious thing to at least have a cheap phone, just in case? Like.. seriously. >={

Rhine's name reminded me all the while about Rhino's and not you know the river 'Rhine'. So.. that's that.

BUT ignoring all the above and putting my mind basically on 'stand-by' I did enjoy this book. Because despite the absurdness and illogical explanation for everything (the continents etc.) the world Lauren DeStefano has created was beautiful. It's very much fluff and pink and girly.. and thank god that I had read 3 real dystopians before this one and therefore I could handle all the pink and glitter and whatnot. I was sad when Rose died and it got worse when Jenna died as well =( And I did get to like Linden even though he is an oblivious, naive fool. I give this a doubtful 3 stars because of all the reasons named above. Even though there wasn't any real action [at least not what I consider action] and even though it missed out on a lot, it was still nice to read it. ...more
