I finished the first New Species book, and it was okay plus. I guess I just never was engaged with the characters and since the story didn't have that 'spark' to bring it to life, it felt long to me. There was lots of smex - not surprising for an EC release - but the background story was really just a bunch of vignettes not an actually plot - so have sex, then have a crisis in the background where Valliant thinks that Fury is going to kill his heroine and try to save her from him, rinse and repe

When I first started reading this book the first thing I thought of that it had a Lora Leigh Breeds type feel to it. After reading it a bit further – the book ended up having its own flair to it, and I wanted to keep reading.
