This was a reread for me, although I can't remember exactly how long ago I first read it. It was definitely several years ago. I have found that sometimes when I reread a favorite book it may or may not hold on to it's "favorite" status. I am happy to report that this one passed the test ;).

Mosse is a master at mixing up history, mythology, legend, and a little supernatural magic into creating a story filled with everything a reader could want.

As I turned the final page, I longed for the story to continue. (Do not read if you do not want spoilers.)
I read Labyrinth, the first in the trilogy, a few months ago. I had been meaning to get the second book out
but life got in the way. This week I read Sepulchre and could not stop reading. I was reading the book into the
early hours of the morning - I just could not put it down.
What make Enthralled...Enticed...Entertained...These would all be accurate descriptions of my Enjoyment of Sepulchre.

I read Labyrinth, the first in the trilogy, a few months ago. I had been meaning to get the second book out
but life got in the way. This week I read Sepulchre and could not stop reading. I was reading the book into the
early hours of the morning - I just could not put it down.
What makes this story so readable and irresistible?
The two main characters are 2 strong young woman, very similar in temperament, but separated by more than
100 years. However their story arcs are seamlessly entertwined and for most of the book you forget about the
huge difference in timelines. The plot lines are flawless in their simple logic. The writer, Kate Mosse, makes you forget
you are a mere reader and that this is mere fiction. The story is so beautifully constructed and the characters so realistically
drawn that it is difficult to believe that you are not witnessing real events.
As I read this story, I was lost once more in the wonderfully rich world and surroundings of the Carcassonne region in the
South of France that Kate Mosse had introduced me to in Labyrinth.
In this book 19th century Paris is brought to life once again though this writer's impeccable research talents. But it is
the romantic and terrible legends and myths of one of Europe's oldest regions, the Carcassonne region, that really draws
you into this tale. The setting in this book is as much a character as the characters themselves.
This book had all my favourite elements woven its pages: Suspense, the Supernatural and History.
I really enjoyed Labyrinth, the first of the trilogy, but Sepulchre has definitely surpassed Labyrinth in my affection.
All I can say is that I cannot wait to read the third in this trilogy. I also have to visit this incredible part of the world.

I read somewhere that the author writes her Languedoc books as a sort of love letter to that region of France.

All I can say is, if I were a resident of that area I would ask her to Cease and Desist. Her books are filled with superstitious and violent locals, corrupt officials and devilish characters who enjoy meddling with occult items.

It’s kind of put me off visiting the area…
