I'm an avid Nora Roberts fan, but it was a struggle to complete this book. The prologue was promising, but the rest of the book disappointed on several levels. The characters are flat with exaggerated traits and the lack of backstory makes it even more difficult to care. It is difficult to decide who was more annoying, Iona or Branna. Iona has no filters when she interacts with others, while Branna is locked in her rigid views of the past. Maybe Branna was meant to be portrayed as cautious but ...more

Its been awhile since ive read this series but some of Nora Roberts stuff you have to read again and again,

Three witches to break an ancient spell. Iona sells everything and leaves the life she knew in Ameria to see if the storis her Nan told her were true. She finds the acceptance of her long lost cousions and with their help she learns to nouish the power she never knew she had. She also finds love with the local horseman Boyle as they come together to end a centuries old curse.

I am a huge fan of any book that has witches in them. Nora Roberts made an old story twisted and turned it into a modern setting. I loved it. The mix of her characters and having them use an animal to fight an evil wizard was fantastic.

This book starts out with the tale of the dark witch Sorcha. She has three kids and gives them a protection amulet to fight off an evil wizard Cabhan. The story goes that Cabhan wants Sorchas gifts and she refuses. Cabhan comes after and she is forced to kill him

A fun, light read. Nora is always good for that! The witch angle was a bit of a departure for her, so I liked it.
