Biting the Bullet (Jaz Parks, #3) in Vampires, Weres and Fae!

I really enjoyed this next book in the Jaz Parks series. I love Jaz's character - she's strong, sarcastic, feisty, but at the same time has an emotional side, but one she does not necessarily want to share with the rest of her CIA assassin team.

In this book, Jaz and her team go to Iran to team up with a Special Ops team, led by her twin brother David, to take down The Wizard, a necromancer who has been causing death and destruction for years, but has constantly evaded capture. The relationship b I really enjoyed this next book in the Jaz Parks series. In this book, Jaz and her team go to Iran to team up with a Special Ops team, led by her twin brother David, to take down The Wizard, a necromancer who has been causing death and destruction for years, but has constantly evaded capture. The relationship between Jaz and David is somewhat strained due to events in their past, but they do manage to overcome these in order to work efficiently together.

David has identified a mole in his team, who is telling the Wizard their every move and Jaz's team have the job of finding out who it is, but it is not who they quite expected. The Wizard has a devious plan, one in which he believes he can still get away from Jaz and Vayl and co, but one which Jaz is determined to thwart.

She meets some reavers again, along with zombies and mahghuls, small bat shaped creatures who feed on the rage and fear emotions emitted between a murderer and his victims. Raoul makes a couple of brief appearances to help out Jaz in her battle against the Magistrate from hell, who has placed a demon mark on her, allowing the reavers to track her.

She also meets a strange other called Asha Vista who is an Amanah Szeya, a sort of justice "demon", who helps out in the fight against the Wizard as well.

Vayl, Jaz's vampire boss really annoyed me in this book. He was so withdrawn and didn't seem to care much about the mission, the mole or Jaz at all. He was completely obsessed with finding his 2 sons, whom a local Seer claimed were in Tehran, but it was all just a ploy to get him to turn her, but Vayl couldn't see that at all. He lost his connection to Jaz and only when she really needed his help and he didn't come did he finally realise how close he was to losing her.

One thing that did really annoy throughout the whole book were the frequent flashbacks to explain current events and feelings from various different characters. Some of these I already knew about having read the previous 2 books, but I did feel that some of them were unnecessary as well, even if I hadn't already read them. It kind of distracted from the main plot a bit at times.

Overall I did thoroughly enjoy this story and can't wait to read the next one in the series. ...more

Romantic complications a Brooding Vamp, a Troubled Past, out-of-body experiences, twin brother Dave and their issues,CIA special ops squad, whose big target is the Wizard, Albert is having another crisis, Vayl, makes her jealous and they are in Tehran, dealing with dangerous others. Jaz has a demon trying to pull her soul to hell, while everything around her is twisting in knots. Hard to take a breath while reading this book in the series.This is a great read. Urban Fantasy all the way !
