This was a great sequel, picking up the story shortly after where Obsidian left off, and it left me wanting to read more. In Onyx Katy learns that she has more than just Arum to worry about. The government has their eyes on the Luxen at all times, but what they’re after are not the aliens themselves. This book was a whole new layer of mystery and danger, and it was just as hot as the first.
I loved that Katy developed powers and that she didn’t stay this weak human among aliens. She’s still the q ...more

Wow. That's really all there is to say. Like with the first book in this series it was so hard to put Onyx down! I loved the characters and the plot was constantly keeping me on my toes! Armentrout has the uncanny ability to make everything she puts down on paper seem like it's really happening right in front of me. Not only that, but what would otherwise be considered as dragging scenes for most authors, she makes even ...more

July 25, 2023: This was a fun read again. I enjoyed the character developments and story progression.
May 18, 2016: My love for this series is continuously reaffirmed as I read. I didn't get as annoyed with the characters acting stupid as the last time I read the books because I knew it was going to happen. Daemon is an amazing character and my favorite.

I enjoyed this one way more than I expected. I loved the first one when I read it back in 2012 but then just moved away from the series for some reason. I was able to fall back in the world better than I thought I would.
I love the characters, that Katy is a book geek and that tough Daemon has a heart. The plot was pretty obvious, especially who were the plants but it was well written and fun anyway. Onyx would've been better with more Dee and less lying to your friends and family for their own ...more

This series so far has been a pleasure to devour. Yes I'm a forty year old woman that refuses to grow up! We all love a bad boy and Daemon jumps right off the page with his imaginary hands making every female heart wish he was real. Great writing style, brilliant secondary characters. I'm having a little break half way through writing my YA book and this has kept me quietly entertained.
