I enjoyed the story, loved/hated the characters with exuberance. I was intrigued by the mythology around the edges. I wanted to kiss the ground and scream "thanks book gods for finally doing it right" but I didn't I would have probably gotten smacked by a falling book for that. I love the feeling of greediness when I finish a book.
So the story is about a girl who finds herself alone after her mother is killed by evil life sucking zombies (my name), she is forced to go back to the place her moth ...more

DNF @ 33% - A third of the book in and nothing really happens excepting whining teenage angst and very little character or plot development - At 45 years of age I don't have the time or inclination to continue on with this drivel.
This has been on my shelf for a while and I've been avoiding it mostly because I feared (and sadly have been proven right) it was another angsty 'the one' YA paranormal centred around an annoying female protagonist. It's not that I dislike YA, or YA paranormal particula ...more

It's funny. I have to say that at first I really wasn't sure about this book or this author. I guess it just took me a bit of reading to get into it.

I cried.
Yes, you read that right. The book made me cry!
Which is awesome. It means I was emotionally invested in the characters and their journeys. And it wasn’t an investment that took a lot of arm twisting. No, Armentrout had me from chapter one. Actually, she had me from the first 250-words because I’d seen a vlog of Half-Blood done by Elena Solodow. The book backed the first page/chapter with ease. I was never disappointed, and better yet, I never felt like putting it down. ...more
