Of the five In Death books I have read so far this one was my least favorite but it was still a really good book. The thing I like most about this series is that I am always wrong with my assumption about the "bad guy". I can't predict the ending and I like that. Peabody really shines in this one. I'm starting to love this series more and more. I think this installment shows definite improvement in the way the relationships are written, at least for me. This could be because the characters are growing on me more and more, or it could be because the author improved with each book, or it could be that I like her writing better when it's about already established characters/relationships than when it's about developing new characters/relationships. A wonderful addition to the series. I really really enjoyed this one, although I hate who the bad group ended up as. I get it, and it all makes sense. The inclusion of semi-magic into the world -- people with some psychic abilities, seems weird to me, but I'm down. I wonder if this will affect any of the future books. ...more
