I was dreading this book. I heard lots of bad things about the translation and the genre is not something I would pick on my own.
That being said the book in itself was not so bad. The translation was at times mind numbingly bad and it ended up to my advantage since the bad translation chased away any fear the story might have instilled in me. Fairly well written, though riddled with similies, especially the beginning. My only real problem is that it's not a complete story. It is part of a trilogy but they don't bother to tell you that before you begin reading. It's all preface for the big battle you know is coming in book 3. Call me old-fashioned but I want a complete story in some form, even if it is not the big overarching story. But nothing was resolved here, only more subplot introduced at the end.
