Oh my goodness! I can't believe that ending! I am glad I'm a little late on the scene and can read, from what I hear, is the next two books to resolve this storyline. It was pure torture at the end, I was reading as fast as I could to hurry and see what else would happen. I will have to do a reread later to savor it a bit more.
I've heard tons of good things about this series and of course about Jace. I do agree, he's a very intriguing character and I'm glad I've finally got to meet him. The stor ...more

After my 21 year old dyslexic son, read this whole series in a week, I knew I had to at least try this. He hasn't read a thing since the last book they forced him to read in H.S. So after finishing this cliffhanger of a book, I can see what the lure is to so many. A lot of the "surprising" things that happened, I saw coming, so that kind of fell flat for me. But the world building was great and I will read the next book.

From Amazon:
When Clary Fray witnesses three tattoo-covered teenagers murder another teen, she is unable to prove the crime because the victim disappears right in front of her eyes, and no one else can see the killers. She learns that the teens are Shadowhunters (humans who hunt and kill demons), and Clary, a mundie (i.e., mundane human), should not be able to see them either. Shortly after this discovery, her mother, Jocelyn, an erstwhile Shadowhunter, is kidnapped. Jocelyn is the only person wh ...more

Absolutely Awesome... sums up the book to me.. after reading the reviews with such mixed feelings I had decided to read it myself finally.I read it from beginning to end in one day, I just couldn't put it down. Although it begins slow it takes you by surprise and just blows you away with all its secrets. This book has just enough cliff hangers, suspense, and love quarrel all wrapped into a well categorized plot! A must read in my opinion!

Quite a good book for a YA book. I do think I *may* have read this one before a long time ago though, although I don't remember doing so, but some bits seemed quite familiar and I knew what was going to happen. Anyhow I did enjoy it, although I am glad nothing happened between Clary and Jace before they found out who they were. I just hope that Valentine is defeated in the next book.

If you've read all the 1 star reviews, then you know that this book is clearly Harry Potter fan-fiction. The Harry Potter parallels were obvious when reading City of Bones, but I didn't care! I loved the story and the action. Also, I liked that Cassandra Clare used a lot of humor and had the balls to write an incest-themed story line.
