I mean it was 1433 pages not including some controversial "last chapter". Let me just say that there was a period of about 300 pages where my eyes rolled into the back of my head and I might have drooled. Fine, I will go with the whole battle of God vs. Devil. Good vs. Evil. But I can't Stand being preached to. I understand people seeking out faith in a situation as presented. I just didn't appreciate being hammered with it. But that all comes later. I am trying to figure out how to write this. I mean it was 1433 pages not including some controversial "last chapter". What I did like were the characters. And they are what kept me plodding through the 300 pages of being preached to. I liked that some of the characters didn't appreciate the preaching either. I could name everyone they all played their parts and played them well. But my issue was how they were handled in the end. I mean, Leo/Joe was left an orphan again.I know he had Lucy but, Larry and Nadine disappearing must have been devastating. Was he ok? We are never told. What happened to the little girl that was with Nick and Tom's group when they reached Mother Abigail? What happened? Where did she go? Bugs me.

And some of the ending of our characters? Really. It was all kinda horrific. Glen did not deserve to be shot by Lloyd in a fucking cell. He should have gone out with Larry and Ralph. And Nick? Blown to smithereens. Leaving Tom. They were family. And can we talk about Tom. I loved him. And was pissed when the group sent him off to the West. I am glad our author treated him well and we did not have to see Tom too worse for wear and he had a happy ending. I might have thrown my book if anything really bad happened to him. (I have the paperback) Can we talk about poor Trashcan Man. I felt so badly for him from beginning to end. I don't believe that he was an EVIL person. He was never given a chance in life. EVER. If he had been loved and treated well and directed in other ways, he could have been a fire fighter. And why the fuck did we have to read through him being raped by The Kid? really. To what purpose. None. That could have been edited out. Maybe it was in the original published version. I never liked Nadine. Ever. She was lame. And the whole Nadine/Harold thing got weird. I mean, would a 16 year old boy really.....maybe. I don't want to know. We call that child molestation now.

And who did Kojak live with in the end? First they leave him behind. LEAVE HIM BEHIND. They left the only dog alive BEHIND. Fuckers. I mean, I could carry my cats in a back pack. He had legs. He could keep up with them. I have been stuing over that. Stu. Leave the dog behind. Not gonna let you guys live that down.

Chapter one. Sealed it. Chapter one sucked me in and made me read 1433 pages. Well done Mr.King. Well done. I will probably come back and add more and change this up. But I needed to get a few things off my chest. Am I glad I read this. I am not sure. Would I recommend this? I am not sure. I still need to think about things.
