The third installment in the Kate Daniel's series was fantastic. Taking a break between books seems like torture but reality must be dealt with.

This was an intense read and the story explored shifter issues. Jim and Derek are acting strange which makes Kate suspicious. There is trouble but Curran isn't informed, doing so means incurring his wrath. Nobody wants to do that.

Curran is pursuing Kate in a single minded manner, this makes her jumpy. These two were super cute and am glad things are finally moving forward. It was surprising that they have similar reactions to a lot of things. Kindred spirits, indeed.

Indian mythology was woven into a tight, unpredictable plot, I was surprised and pleased. It reminded me of the stories I heard as a child. The action takes place in the form of deadly supernatural gladiator combat. Fight to the death.

Backstory ruled and some of my suspicions were confirmed. It seems as if the past rarely reminds you of something pleasant, but unleashes demons to hunt you down.

The other characters in this book are not merely for support or in minor roles. They are fleshed out rather well and you grow to care for them. The term Crew is more appropriate. There was a possibility of future cute couples - I ship Jim and Dali, Rapheal and Andrea, Derek and Julie. We learn more about Saiman and I was wide eyed through most of it. Color me impressed. Shocked but impressed.

I want to gush more about this book but its difficult to do that without spoilers. So go read it already.

It dawned on me that Raphael was sitting very still. Frozen, like a statue, his gaze fixed on the point above my head.
“He’s standing behind me, isn’t he?”
Andrea nodded slowly.
“Technically it should be ‘may I,’” Curran said, his voice deeper than I remembered. “Since you’re asking permission.”

Another great book in the Kate Daniels series. I loved that we get to see a new side to Curran in this one, even though I have liked it from the beginning. I can't wait for the next one! ...more
