I love everything about this book. I absolutely devoured it. What kept me from all out finishing it within a day or two was the fact that I had to work.

I love Beth. I love the fire and passion that she has. She’s so strong and perfectly matched for Wrath. Her connection to him is instant. I mean so instant their clothes fall off.

Imagine just meeting someone and the next thing you know, you’re in bed with them. Nelly anyone??

And Beth is just dying for an adventure. Despite that, Wrath and his wo I love everything about this book. I absolutely devoured it. What kept me from all out finishing it within a day or two was the fact that I had to work.

And Beth is just dying for an adventure. Despite that, Wrath and his world is terrifying to her at first, but once she accepts it, she’s falls right in. Turns out, Wrath will be the one to give her the adventure of a lifetime.

It was funny watching the both of them trying to deny what they were feeling and act like things would change after her transition. The denial was strong with these two, although more so with Wrath.

Wrath was the best alpha-hole. I’m not sure I can even consider him an alpha-hole because he’s only an ass to his enemies or his brothers, but never really to Beth, although he could rock a mean RBF around her depending on his mood.

He was so sweet and caring. He respected the hell out of her. He looked upon her with such adoration and love before he even realized what it was that he was feeling.

Their chemistry is intense, as indicated by their clothes falling off during their first real encounter. If it’s any indication, it’s a fast paced romance between these two, however not to the point to where it felt really rushed. In reality, it might have happened within the span of days, but it wasn’t incredibly noticeable.

All this to say that everything about the book was really well written from the plot to the romance to the spice. I love JR Ward’s style of writing and these characters of hers. I also like that she switches POVs throughout the book, but I’m not a fan of reading from Mr. X’s POV because he gives me the creeps.

Three to four years later and I still love this first novel of the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series and I can’t wait to continue the series time.

I didn't know what to expect when I started reading this book. So much hype everywhere as The King was about to be released. I read reviews right and left and skip all spoilers because I wanted to have and opinion of my own without being biased.
Ward offers a world of vampires that I had never been offered before. Apparently they were thrown into this world with no purpose other than to be yet another species. No better,no worse than humans and yet have to live in secrecy and fight for survival. I didn't know what to expect when I started reading this book. So much hype everywhere as The King was about to be released. I read reviews right and left and skip all spoilers because I wanted to have and opinion of my own without being biased.
Ward offers a world of vampires that I had never been offered before. Apparently they were thrown into this world with no purpose other than to be yet another species. No better,no worse than humans and yet have to live in secrecy and fight for survival. Our heroine, Beth is your ordinary woman with your "modern average" survival instincts. I wish I could say why I say this but I would have to say "spoiler" and I hate that in reviews so I'll spare you. I'll say this though, in other books I've read, when the heroine got in trouble, she most likely engaged in a silly dialogue with an attacker or ended up being saved by the hero. Not here. She got the wits to fight back, she survived, she moved on with her life. Loved that about her. Wrath, our Hero, is your ordinary Alpha male that will stop at nothing to protect her from harm, obviously, but also knows that is not just about what he wants. In my eyes they make a good couple.
Secondary characters of this book, which I know by now have books of their own, are well defined and complete. Ward has a way with words that makes you understand each one of them without saying much about them. Now as far as the dialogue between the brothers, I didn't mind it as many did as I know men that do express themselves in the same colloquial way. I don't like it in real life and I wish she would not have chosen it for our heroes but she did and now I have to live with it (I wanted to throw up a little in my mouth every time they used one of those silly phrases, dig?)But the overall dialogue was good. These are supposed to be everyday people communicating about everyday nuances and not everyone talked the same way. Butch, Marissa, Fritz, and other character, had their own unique voice, thanks to the way Ward presented them to the reader. So to focus only on how the brothers talk would be a bit absurd. Now, if they only had a different taste in music, and I mean, each of them, because they all seem to like the same. Now that's unrealistic.
