Junot Diaz has created his own kind of literature (with a capital L) out of a combination of Dominican history and culture, American fanboy nerddom, and world literature. He can go from referencing Gabriel Garcia Marquez to the Watcher (you know, from the "What If..." comic book series) in one sentence without sounding incongruous. It's a fascinating mix of high and low in an engaging, compulsively readable voice. ...more
