What Members Thought

There is nothing startling about this novel but it is a beautifully written family saga with subtle undercurrents of wisdom. I identified with many of the finely drawn characters but especially Nora's mother Maryam. After many years as a US resident she still struggles every day to feel that her new home is as it should be. When we read the following about Maryam we understand a little better what it means to be a migrant, yesterday, today and tomorrow.
