A disturbing but at times amusing memoir and the winner of 2019 Stella Prize.
Laveau-Harvie's voice is original and appealing but the way she has chosen to structure the memoir with many events prefigured months and years before their occurrence much less so.
The author's family could only be described as 'dysfunctional' (once you meet the family you will know what I mean!) but the levels of support, solidarity and love within the family are not those we usually associate with families so labelle ...more
