What Members Thought
I was disappointed with this retelling of a well known story from ancient Greek mythology. I so enjoyed The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller and was hoping to be mesmerised in the same way by Toibin's novel. However, I found the writing in House of Names decidedly pedestrian especially in those sections of the story told from the point of view of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra's son Orestes; I thought the novel as a whole was uninspiring.
