I can't say I was taken with this novel which I read after viewing the movie on two occasions. The quirky nature of the novel was successfully presented in the movie adaptation but I found some of the distasteful scenes from the novel when translated to the big screen even more distasteful and at times disrespectful.
The comparison of text and movie versions for a book club discussion should prove interesting.

An interesting and different story line. Now that I have read the book I would like to see the movie as that is the order I like to do it - read book first, then see movie.
