The runaways in this well crafted, contemporary novel are not displaced from their homes by war but by the prejudice, discrimination and cruelty which is part and parcel of their lives in 21st century India. The anguish, disappointment and frustration experienced by the three young men who, as illegal immigrants do battle with the regulatory and restrictive procedures of their new English homeland is palpable and the tone of the novel is exceptionally bleak.
