The Narrow Road to the Deep North is an extraordinary work of historical fiction and a worthy recipient of the Man Booker Prize in 2014. Much of the book is set in a POW camp on the Thai/Burma railway during World War I I and through the actions and thoughts of both the prisoners and their captors, we are given the opportunity to learn much about the human spirit - how it flourishes and how it fails.

Oh my goodness, This book has had an amazing affect on me. I know a lot of war vets and this has made me more in awe of them then before. How could they possibly return to normal life after this??? It is one of the best books I have read. Everyone should read this book.
