A sad, wise, if at times formulaic story, built around the lives of characters abandoned by their families and society to exist in institutions for the disabled in the 1960s. It is important to be reminded of the despicable treatment meted out to people such as Lynnie and Buddy in times gone by and of the dedicated care and concern exhibited by some of the workers in these institutions.
