What Members Thought

For me, not as engaging or haunting a novel as A Fine Balance even though many of the ideas expressed are the same. Corruption at all levels of society is a major theme, "Nothing is beyond the government. Ordinary people like us are helpless against them." p 264. Characterisation in both novels is a strong suit but the plot development in Such a Long Journey is not as refined as in A Fine Balance.
