What Members Thought
Somewhat underwhelmed until halfway through the novel. Plot development from that point seemed to gather pace and the intent of the author to describe and comment on the intricacies of relationships between individuals, families and communities became obvious. The fragility of many of these relationships is what defined the novel for me and I am interested to see if this is a recurring theme in Ferrante's other Neopolitan Novels.

Read this to find out what the hype was all about. Lots of conflicting views about the quality of translation. Given all that, yes, I enjoyed it.
