This was my first Picoult book and I have to say I loved it. **SPOILER ALERT** Initially having to switch back and forth between narrators and fonts stumped me, but once I got into the book, I realized it helped keep my attention. It would have me wondering what this person's point of view was going to be. I have to agree with a lot of the reviewers on Sara's selfishness and obvious favoritism towards Kate. I can't seem to take my off of this book. Very engaging.
It is one of the saddest books I've read this year, indeed.
I like that each character has some time and space to grow in the story. also, I like that every little detail in the story felt like it was well-researched. For example, the infos about astronomy, about explosive material, about in-depth medical knowledge, about almost everything, basically.

This book is like the grown up big sister to all those "Don't Die My Love" and "A Summer for Dying" and "Dying For A Prom" books by Lurlene McDaniels that my friends and I devoured when we were 12. In fact, there is even a "last dance at the prom before I die of cancer" scene in this book too -- but since the over-arching theme is about the moral dilemmas of our modern healthcare system and the rights of underage minors to make their own medical decisions, the lighthearted scenes with dogs, prom
