What a waste of time. I picked this up because it was recommended on a book podcast that I usually can trust, but from now on I will be giving them the side eye. Is it because it's translated from French? Is it because it's so "brave" and "edgy" because it's about a lower-class nanny working for an upper-class family? Is all this supposed to make it good? This book falls somewhere between literary fiction and the thriller genre and doesn't satisfy either category. The character development is not going to satisfy readers of literary fiction. But there's no resolution so it's not really a thriller. I was intrigued throughout but disappointed by the ending, which provides no answers.
