Surprisingly funny book about domestic violence, rape, and "mean moms." Although I think the "twist" was obvious, it was also kinda besides the point...it was merely a vehicle to communicate the "this can happen to anyone" message - which I appreciated. However, there were times where I felt annoyed because there was a conscious effort to misguide and divert attention in order to prolong the story.

Really enjoyed this one! Humor, Drama, Suspense/Mystery. Did someone actually die??? WHO??? WHY?? What what what WHAT happened??? Great blending of story lines into a well knit novel with events that were unanticipatable to me. The "snippets" of conversations that are interspersed keep a tension to keep the pages turning - AND - it isn't one of those telling a story backwards and forwards and backwards and forwards - like so many I've read recently. Moriarty knows how to draw a reader in for "just one more chapter." I loved how she framed the story: we knew from the beginning that someone in the book was murdered, but it wasn't revealed who it was until the ending.

I stayed up entirely too late finishing this. I loved the structure, characters, story. 4.5 stars
Very readable, but you will probably hate yourself the whole time.
Can't wait for the TV series!
