It is really refreshing to read a book like this and to have a picture of what happens on the personal side of a police shooting. Even though it’s a work of fiction, it’s important to keep in mind that the victims have lives and families. Like DeVante said, nobody wants to sell drugs, and when you’ve been taking care of your family, it’s a relief to have someone else take care of you. That’s the side of the story that we don’t always hear.

This is SUCH a well-written and poignant story (and also a really easy read despite the topic as it's a YA book). The plot and characters felt SO real to me. I read so many books that I usually forget the details as soon as I start the next one, but this one has really stuck with me. I can't wait to see more from this author.
