Really liked how this one turned society on its head and in doing so showed how ridiculous we are.
While I still don't know exactly how I feel after finishing this novel, I loved it. Alderman's an amazing writer, with a clear and articulate voice that really shows you (the reader) what is happening. I loved the storyline, which followed a few characters (Allie/Eve, Margot, Tunde (the only male), Roxy, and Jocelyn) as women around the world develop an electrical power that ends up shifting the balance of power in the world. For the first quarter of the book I was SOLD and wanted to shoot lightning from my fingers too. About halfway through it became a bit of a slog, and by the end I was just bored and annoyed that I wasted my time. With great power comes great responsibility. The end.
Oh my! Amazing, horrifying, compelling. Occasionally even funny.
It's a thinker. What is gender? What is nature versus nurture? Why is it so impactful to see the tables turned?
