I am coming to terms with Zadie Smith just not being for me... Although there were some moments of real beauty in this book, I just did not care about anyone. My book club picked it and I'm looking forward to talking it through with all them because, frankly this book just left me feeling kinda meh.

I have mixed feelings for this book. I like her writing style but the novel as a whole did not hold for me. I found the characters neither likeable nor realistic, and she seems to put too much work into trying to get her messages across. Because of this tedious plot, it took me forever to finish this.
