I hate giving this such a low rating, but it just wasn't a fit for me. I'm glad I listened to the audiobook to hear Carrie's words in her own voice... and it made me think I'd have preferred her one-woman show. I loved her transparency in sharing about her mental illness and struggles with substance abuse, but in a memoir I guess I want a bit more self-reflection along with the stories.

Truth be told I really did not know much about Carrie Fisher other than seeing her in Star Wars and the Blues Brothers. I don't tend to follow movie stars. But, in light of her recent death and subsequent articles talking about how she was so much more than an actress, when Hoopla offered her book as an option, I decided to give it a listen to see if I could learn anything else.

I love Carrie Fisher, she's...well, was...hilarious and honest. Her writing is much like the way she lived her life: hilarious, honest, and a bit manic. Sometimes chapters came across as more stream of consciousness and were difficult to follow as they jumped from topic to topic. Others felt more tell-all expose or stand up comedy routine. (3.5) funny and revealing. Full of self-deprecating humor and reads like a performance (is it a near transcript of her show?)
