While the stories were creative, the writing and word choice were not. I'm a big fan of memoir, and I'm okay with the more recent phenomenon of folks spilling family secrets for public consumption. However, the author isn't a great writer. She relies too much on shock value to those readers not aware that life in rural areas is different. Um...duh. Pretty funny series of anecdotes. I "read" this as an audiobook while I was walking to and from the office and while running and I think it added to my enjoyment. If I had just tried to sit and read through it as a book, I think the style would have gotten old quickly. As it was, I laughed out loud more than once.
