I was told of this book by Slayra, who had an extra copy. As a rule I never say no to a given book, even if the subject doesn't appeal me, so I kept it. I must confess that I picked it up with some apprehension, not that I doubt her reviews (after all she was right when she couldn't finish reading Twilight *whistles innocently*) but the theme didn't seemed quite my thing. Yet, it surprised me positively.

I have a stupid reason for why it took me so long to read this book. The girl on the cover looks way too much like Cally Henderson Tyrol of Battlestar Galactica, whom I couldn't stand. (I said it was a stupid reason!)

Anyway, people kept strenuously recommending the book, so I read it. It is an extremely interesting premise -- that everyone can be beautiful so no one is discriminated against. The way the dark side of this idea percolated slowly through the story worked very well for me. I agree w

Builds a great world and convincing society - fresh spin on all too common teen life lessons. Wish the narrator didn't make Shay sound like a lisping 9 year old and David a pouty 10 year old, but cool book. Eagerly reading book 2. Great last line! ...more

A well-thought out world. Suffers from the all-too common "let's teach those teens some life lessons" impulse which I find a little obvious and obnoxious. However, I will be reading the next book in the series. I do love all the slang! ...more
